Happy Sunday!

I had a good problem compiling this week’s issue: too much good news. Seriously — this may be our most jam-packed issue yet, and I had to cut stories I loved to get here. Everything that made the final cut really earned its spot.

So let’s get right into it! 💛

📰 GOOD NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

🏆 Finland is the World’s Happiest Country — For the 9th Year Running

Every March, the World Happiness Report drops its annual rankings and every March it confirms what we’ve come to expect: Finland is still the gold standard for a good life. The Nordic nation claimed the title of world's happiest country for the ninth consecutive year— cementing what can only be described as a dynasty of delight.

And Finland isn't alone at the top. Five of the six happiest countries are Nordic with Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway rounding out the club.  Which raises a fair question: what exactly are they putting in the reindeer milk up there?

Turns out, it's less about luxury and more about fundamentals. Strong social safety nets, generous parental leave, tuition-free universities, good healthcare, high trust in government and neighbors, a deeply ingrained love of nature — and yes, saunas. There's also the Finnish concept of sisu: a mix of resilience, grit, and inner strength that's essentially baked into the culture.

The biggest feel-good subplot of this year's report? Costa Rica, which rocketed from 23rd place all the way to 4th— the highest ranking ever achieved by a Latin American country.

This year's report also took a close look at social media, and discovered that heavy use is a key reason why Western countries have dropped in global happiness rankings, particularly among younger generations.

So less scrolling, more sauna. Consider that your Sunday morning prescription.🔗 Read more

🐶 50,000 Dogs May Hold the Secret to Human Aging

Here's a sentence you probably didn't expect to read today: the secret to beating Alzheimer's might be sitting at your feet right now, wagging its tail.

The Dog Aging Project is one of the most ambitious longevity studies ever undertaken. It’s big idea? Since dogs develop many of the same age-related diseases as we do, they may be our best shortcut to cracking the code on aging.

Here's the science behind it: dogs share a strikingly similar brain structure with humans. When dementia strikes, it damages dogs' brains in eerily similar ways—causing harmful inflammation that kills off neurons and causes the brain to shrink. That biological parallel is exactly what makes studying over 50,000 dogs so valuable. And because dogs age faster than we do, scientists can observe an entire decade of aging in just a few years.

Beyond observation, researchers are now testing rapamycin, a drug that has already slowed cognitive decline and extended the life of mice by 60%. In a small pilot study of dogs with dementia, those given the drug showed much less brain inflammation than those given a placebo. Meanwhile, a biotech startup named Loyal has raised more than $250 million to bring longevity drugs to your local vet. The FDA already signed off on the safety data for their lead drug. If it works in dogs, it may open doors for human longevity research next.

For those touched by Alzheimer's, this research offers something rare and valuable: real momentum. By helping our best friends live longer, we might just be giving ourselves a longer leash on life, too.🔗 Read more | Watch the 60 Minutes Report

While Gas Prices Surge, EVs Are Quietly Changing the Math

If you’re tired of watching the numbers spin at the pump, there is some good news hiding behind the headlines. In 2025, electric vehicles quietly staged one of the most significant energy shifts in recent memory.

According to BloombergNEF, global EV adoption wiped out demand for up to 2.3 million barrels of oil per day last year— a meaningful jump from 1.3 million daily barrels in 2024. To put that in perspective, that is roughly equivalent to 70% of Iran’s entire daily oil exports vanishing in a single year.

What’s fueling the shift? It’s a mix of cheaper batteries, more charging stations, and a serious boost in driver confidence. In 2019, only four countries saw EV sales top 10%. Last year, that number jumped to 39. China is leading the charge with half of all new car sales going electric, while the U.S. is holding steady at 10% with momentum building thanks to some very competitive EV deals from automakers.

Analysts predict these oil savings will only climb from here. The bottom line: every time a driver plugs in instead of pumps up, the math shifts in favor of energy independence. 🔗 Read more
